Responsible Product Management

Sarchem consider to act with environmental responsibility and to respect and preserve our world for the future. Due to this key aspect, Sarchem involved into the professional leather market with water based finishing chemicals.  Since then, Sarchem continuing to involve to the new markets with all water based products. We are actively follow the national and international regulations and standards to fullfill the requirements. Our products and processes ensure that the risks of exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and emissions are kept to a minimum for our employees, customers and the environment for shaping a sustainable future. We are also continuously working to improve the sustainability by introducing more renewable sources to our products, reducing wastes, etc. Within this principle, Sarchem comply with the international chemical regulations like Reach, CLP, Proposition 65, ZDHC/MRSL on use of banned substances ensuring the safety of both people and the environment and to create value for future generations. We give general informations about these regulations and standarts and our principles for responsible chemistry.

What is the European Union (EU) regulation 1907/2006, Reach?

REACh is the European Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (EC 1907/2006) for chemical substances entered into force on June 1, 2007. The main aims of REACh are to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals. It also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals. REACh makes industry responsible for assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to their users.

Comply with Reach?

Due to REACH restricted substance requirements for consumer items, as given in Annex XVII and the Substances of High Concern (SVHC), as listed in Annex XIV, must not be present in the product at more than 0.1 % (= 1000 ppm). To comply with Reach, Sarchem; Follow the last up-dated chemical lists of Reach, collect informationon about the hazards and potential risks presented by the substances Use particularly pre-registred or registered substances according to Reach in the production of Sarchem products. Do not use substances that have been found to be particularly dangerous to human health or the environment or substances of very high concern (SVHC). Ensure that substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are progressively replaced by less dangerous substances or technologies where technically and economically feasible alternatives are available. By this way, Sarchem ensures that by using Sarchem chemicals all downstream users will comply with Reach requirements.

What is the European Union (EU) regulation 1272/2008, CLP?

The Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (EC1272/2008), or the CLP Regulation, is the EU’s adoption of the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS). CLP is intended to simplify the communication of information about chemical hazards worldwide and reduce the regulatory burden and promote efficiency. It includes a new standardized classification criterion, hazard symbols and labelling phrases, which in harmony with REACH, will define the future chemical regulatory climate.

What are the CLP goals?

CLP applies to the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures placed on the EU market. Like REACH, CLP’s goal is to better protect workers, consumers and the environment by means of ensuring clear labelling which accurately reflects a chemical or substance’s hazard.

Comply with CLP Regulation,

Sarchem is classifing, labelling and packaging the products according to CLP. And effectively and efficiently ensure Safety Data Sheets are CLP compliant.

What is Proposition 65?

California's Proposition 65 list entitles California consumers to special warnings for products that contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm if those products expose consumers to such chemicals above certain threshold levels. We care about our customers' safety.

Comply with Proposition 65,

Sarchem actively checking the up-dated chemical lists of Proposition 65, and provides the following information: The product range of Sarchem complies with Proposition 65 list and doesn’t contain the chemicals known to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm.

What is ZDHC/MRSL?

The ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL) is a list of chemical substances. These substances are banned from intentional use in facilities processing textile materials, leather, rubber, foam, adhesives and trim parts in textiles, apparel, and footwear. Using chemical formulations that conform to the ZDHC MRSL allows suppliers to assure themselves, and their customers, that banned chemical substances are not intentionally used during production and manufacturing processes.  The ZDHC MRSL goes beyond the traditional approaches to chemical restrictions, which only apply to finished products (Product Restricted Substances List - PRSL). This approach helps to protect consumers while minimising the possible impact of banned hazardous chemicals on production workers, local communities, and the environment. The ZDHC MRSL offers brands and suppliers a single, harmonised list of chemical substances banned from intentional use during manufacturing and related processes in supply chains of the textile, apparel, and footwear (including leather and rubber) industries (the Industry).

Comply with ZDHC/MRSL,

Sarchem actively checking the up-dated version of ZDHC/MRSL, and provides the following information: The product range of Sarchem complies with ZDHC/MRSL and doesn’t contain the chemicals in the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List.
